FRESH FISH
There is growing demand for cheaper alternatives to red meat in the local market. Fish and chicken have been the best substitute for expensive beef as a source of protein.
In order to meet this need Brook Haven will supply an even cheaper and healthier alternative to red meat in the form of Tilapia fish. As the first commercial Tilapia farm in eSwatini, we supply fresh tilapia fish and fresh filleted tilapia.
Tilapia is not only cheap, but it is also tastier than the white water derivatives such as the hake which is currently being supplied. Tilapia is affordable across the consumer spectrum from low income to high income earners.
Sustainably
Farmed
Our fish farm grows premium quality tilapia in ponds and supplies them to restaurants, butcheries, hotels and supermarkets in eSwatini. The fish is sold as fresh or frozen fish as well as products like fillet.
Our fish are bred in large ponds which have been carefully placed in areas which provide adequate quantity and quality of water and good soil through seasonal fluctuations.
We use the clay or earth pond system and draw natural water from a clean stream that runs through the farm. This stream's source is on the mountain forming a boundary to the farm and is therefore pure and clean, with no contamination.
It is of the utmost importance to us that good pond management is adhered to at all times to minimize and eliminate fish diseases, and that proper breeding and feeding management will ensure the best end product. Tilapia raised in inland ponds are considered safe for the environment, since their waste and disease is contained and not spread to the wild.
